Wapak Summer Moon Festival 2019

Today is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Neil Armstrong was from Wapakoneta so every year they celebrate his achievement. Wapak does the Moon Festival every year but this year it was even bigger due to it being the 50th anniversary.

Over 50,000 people came (5x more than the population of Wapak)!

We went to the Moon Market, ate some yummy food, and watched the wiener dog races downtown.

We visited also visited the Armstrong Air & Space Museum.

DIY Project: Buffet 1

Melissa had to work all weekend so Jessi stayed busy by finishing the buffet. Jessi bought this Depression Era buffet from a friend years ago. She had started stripping the top and had sanded and primed the base. But it sat for years in her parents barn, unfinished. So, Jessi brought it to Melissa’s house and started to finish it.

SO MUCH VENEER…
The base was painted a nice, clean grey with hints of brown…
Jessi only injured herself mildly…smashing her thumb with the hammer a half a dozen times and slicing her finger on a nail…
After an entire day of work the top is finally stripped and washed to remove all the vinegar needed to remove the veneer…

Bribing the boys with treats in order to get cute pics…

Happy Birthday, America!

Melissa had to work on July 4th so Jessi spent the morning with Toby.

The tradition lives on…third year in a row.

Mumsy is home!

The boys were not impressed with the fireworks. We went outside to watch for a few minutes but the boys weren’t having it. So we came inside and watched Independence Day.
